Hair Loss Treatment at NHI

Hair Implanter Pen

The Hair Implanter Pen (HIP) is a hand-held, pen-shaped device with a thin, tubular end that uses suction to pick up the grafts. A special needle-tip design stabilizes the graft as it carries it into the recipient site. With a simple finger movement, the suction is turned off, releasing the graft in the recipient site and instantly withdrawing the needle from the site, leaving the graft in place.

The Hair Implanter Pen (HIP) was invented to avoid crush injury associated with improperly placing the grafts into recipient sites. The HIP minimizes the risk of crush damage by obviating the need for forceps. By making the placing process easier and faster, it also reduces, to some degree, problems of drying and warming.

The HIP can place grafts significantly faster than forceps. Most important, even when placing speed is increased, graft injury is avoided. The shortened surgical process reduces the time graft are outside the body. Additionally, the training period necessary for using the HIP is substantially shorter than the training period necessary for forceps placement.

This device will soon be available for hair transplants performed at NHI. See the video!
