Calvitron
| NHI does not endorse the use of this instrument. |
The Calvitron in as electro-pneumatic device that uses vacuum suction to aspirate and implant grafts. It has an electric, compressor operated, graft cutter called a Hair Tome and a system of tubes to transport the grafts. It also has the ability to cut and aspirate tissue to make recipient sites.
The Calvitron is cumbersome and difficult to use, and has not gained widespread acceptance among hair transplant surgeons in the U.S. In addition, the Hair Tome causes the same amount of follicular transection as other types of graft cutters.
