Hair Loss Treatment at NHI

Patient MJB

Norwood Class: 3

This patient is in his mid-twenties. He has a job in the entertainment industry, placing him under intense scrutiny by the public. Sarcastic comments were frequently directed at his receding hairline. When he looked in the mirror he didn't recognize the balding guy staring back at him! This prompted him to seek a natural solution to his hair loss.

Doctor Comment:

Everyone is different and we each have unique expectations. Some individuals, like this patient, are perfectionists. A hair transplant is like a painting. Each time the artist paints he has the opportunity to change reality. Like the artist, this patient had an image in mind and understood where he wanted surgery to take him. Working with his surgeon, he refined his image step by step, each time getting closer to what he wanted. He had an excellent relationship with his surgeon and they communicated freely. The result was a blending of what the surgeon was willing and able to do and what the patient wanted. Hair transplantation is an irreversible process, so it is critical that decisions are well thought out, especially when radical changes such as those which are shown here are planned. I believe that everyone who has had the opportunity to meet this patient and see his results, has recognized both the genius in this patient's vision of himself and the courage it took for him to take charge and make his vision a reality. For the surgeon, such radical change should be a concern unless the surgeon is certain that the patient fully understands what he is expecting to see.

Before

Before Hair Restoration - Patient MJB

Before

Before Hair Restoration - Patient MJB

5 months after 1st procedure of 1,265 grafts showing early growth

Before Hair Restoration - Patient MJB

11 months after 1st procedure. Proposed hairline for 2nd procedure marked.

The patient wanted a lower hairline and a subtle widow's peak created. He discussed this with his surgeon and they agreed to proceed with this new objective. The second procedure accomplished three goals: (1) it created a widow's peak; (2) it lowered the hairline; and (3) it added density.

After

After Hair Restoration - Patient MJB

16 months after 2nd procedure of 1,100 grafts. New side hairline drawn in

After Hair Restoration - Patient MJB

6 months after 3rd procedure

After Hair Restoration - Patient MJB

6 months after 3rd procedure

A smaller forehead with a somewhat sharper widow's peak is now evident. The photograph accentuates the widow's peak slightly more than in reality.
