Dean's Story - Procedure 1: 60 Days After

Over the 2nd month, most of the progress I have noticed is in the healing of the excision scar along the hairline. At this point, the scar looks more like just some redness in various areas than a scar at all and seems to be continuing to improve all the time. My understanding and experience with such scars is that they can continue to improve for a year or more. Interestingly, I believe the healing has been assisted by the fact that the scar has been covered by the latex surface of my hair system, which makes a very good 'bandage'. No sunlight gets to the scar through it either, which is very good.
I have experienced some acne in the transplant area as the doctor told me I would. It is not a large number of pimples, but rather a few (2-3) large ones generally, which can be seen in the photos. Not a big deal.
At this point, there is no question that some new hair has grown in. Looking at the photos taken just before surgery and comparing to the 60 day photos, I can see some areas which had no hair in them which are now covered with some hair. Most notable of these is right in the front hairline and to the right. This area was about 1" x .5" of bald skin and is now covered, if thinly, with hair all over. I see the same thing in the center of the forelock area about 3" back. This was an area that was mostly empty about 2" x 2" that is now covered.
Another positive observation I have made is that clearly only some of the new hair has grown to observable length yet because I can feel stubble in the transplant area which I cannot feel farther back on the scalp where no hair was transplanted. I also observe that the recipient site holes which were visible before are very hard to find now. Most of the photos I have seen show growth that is very noticeable after 4 months, so in 2 more months I hope to really see something. This is all very impressive since only 630 units were done this time. It is quite a difference, that's for sure.
The other thing I am quite certain of is that the scars in the hairline will be completely invisible after the next procedure. They are nearly invisible now, so with more units in front of that area, it should be quite a dramatic improvement. I can hardly wait.
